Site-specific Inventory

After several years of record-high decommissioning, the final phases of the closure process – remediation and reclamation – have become a greater portion of our inventory.

Orphan Sites Interactive Map

This interactive map identifies designated orphan sites with colour codes to indicate the current closure stage of each site, with circles or stars to indicate which Prime Contractor is managing the closure.

  • Sites undergoing decommissioning are blue.
  • Sites undergoing reclamation are green.
  • Closed sites are red.
  • Sites not yet assigned to a Prime Contractor have yellow borders.

Orphan Inventory List

Only assets designated as orphans by the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER), or under a Working Interest Participant Agreement (WIPA), are under the management of the OWA. The OWA does not have a role in managing inactive sites or sites that are licensed to an insolvent company but that have not been designated as orphans by the AER.
