Landowner & Community

Landowners are important.

The OWA engages landowners about our plans to decommission and reclaim sites. We work hard to address landowner concerns and mitigate the impacts of the orphan site within the authority we have been given.

Question or concerns

If you have any questions or concerns about a site that you are not sure is an orphan, please contact the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) Customer Contact Centre toll free at 1-855-297-8311, or email LiabilityManagement@aer.ca

What to Expect

We engage landowners throughout the closure process, from initial notification to applying for a reclamation certificate.

Land Access

In order for the OWA to close sites, we must access landowners’ properties.

Compensation

The OWA is unable to provide surface rental payments.

Projects in Communities

We keep communities with complex orphan sites up to date on project developments.
