Vermilion Well Re-Entry and Repair Project

The Orphan Well Association (OWA) will re-enter a historical abandoned well, Tenwell No. 1, located in the Town of Vermilion, Alberta. The well is currently leaking small amounts of methane and does not currently present a risk to public safety. However, the leak needs to be addressed.

The re-entry and repair project will begin September 8 and will last approximately three weeks. View the program schedule. The project is designed to ensure public safety and minimize the impact on the surrounding community.

Information about the project and questions and answers may be found in the information brochure. You can also view the truck route information and equipment that will be used on the site.

We will provide updates to the community about the progress of the project below.
